Why clinical records are retained

Unispital is a healthcare provider. Diagnostic reports and imaging form part of the medical record and must be kept for a defined period under Indian clinical record-keeping requirements and for medico-legal queries. Clinical records are therefore retained for 3 years from the date of your last visit and then permanently deleted. During that period they are not used to contact you, not used for marketing, and not shared except where legally required.

How we verify your request

Because these are medical records, we confirm your identity before deleting anything. We will contact you on the registered email or mobile number, or ask you to present identification at the centre. This step protects you from someone else requesting deletion of your records without your knowledge.

Timeframe

  • We will acknowledge your request within 7 days.
  • Account and profile data will be deleted within 30 days of identity verification.
  • Clinical records will be deleted at the end of the 3-year retention period.
  • Backup copies will be purged within 90 days of the deletion date.
